Experiences--past and future
The weather is great today, nothing like yesterday's thunderstorm. I took the Disaster Assessment course in the Red Cross chaper office last evening and they taught us about how to assess the level of damage to buildings after a natural (or non-natural) disaster hit. I'm sure some of the Red Cross volunteers were doing this assessment thing after the storm last night as the news said many counties were flooded. I'll have to take one more course before they'll actually call me in to do something like this at the diaster sites.
Today is the second day of the Kentucky Society of Health-System Pharmacists meeting in Louisville, Kentucky. My brother and I were supposed to introduce speakers at 10am. We got there early and they were still serving breakfast, so we had breakfast 2 times this morning. The speaker I introduced is actually the cousin of one of my classmates! The hotel where the meeting took place was right outside Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. You can see the roller-coasters clearly in the parking lot. I went to that park once when I was still in high school, and I rode every single thrill ride there. It was awesome ^-^
